Now that we've got this forum up and going it would be great to know more about you all.

Who are you?

I'm Jeff Sandquist and work at Microsoft leading The Evangelism Network team.  We're the folks who create Channels 8,9, 10 , Mix Online and TechNet Edge

Outside of work, I am an avid gamer (JeffSand on XBox Live), love fast cars, playing with tech and hanging with my family.  Right now I am playing MX Vs. ATV for the 360.

Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Who am I?

I'm Nick Hodge. A Professional Geek from Microsoft, based in Australia. Evidently, I am the only one brave enough to have that formal title - but I meet dozens who should be proud of being geeks.

Apart from doing "The Geek Stories" on http://on10.net/, I also blog at http://www.nickhodge.com/, hang out on http://twitter.com/nickhodge and other social networking places.

My current project is General Melchett, an Intel Q6600 Quad Core, 8Gb RAM beast running Windows Vista x64. There are many other "geek shed" projects in the wind... watch out for them here!

When not geeking out I am asleep. Dreaming in code Smiley

(Ok my turn)

I'm Nic Fillingham and I am the Enthusiast Evangelist for South East Asia based in Singapore.

Originally from Sydney, Australia I moved to Singapore in 2004 and love travelling around the region experiencing new cultures.

In my spare time I like to make music, tinker with PC's and if I'm feeling athletic; go wakeboarding.

I spend far too much time on facebook and not enough playing my Xbox 360.

See you on the intarwebs!

-Nic

I'm Duncan Mackenzie, the dev lead for all those communities/channels that Jeff listed... which means I'm the one who was making this site go up and down like a yo-yo for the past day or two Smiley I can't take credit for the site itself though, I'm just one member of our five person development team... if you are interested in joining us and helping build this site and others, check out this job description!

Outside of my work on this site (including a few videos), I write the Xbox Dad column at Xbox.com, play with my kids, and spend a fair bit of time on the Xbox 360 myself (Mass Effect being the current addiction). I also am the co-author of Xbox 360 for Dummies and Zune for Dummies... and a variety of VB and .NET books over the years.

If you visit my blog here on Channel 10, I think the tag list along the right hand side (which lists tags that I often use) kinda sums up my interests nicely...

I'm Barbora Zychova, an Enthusiast Evangelist for the Czech Republic. I'm based in a fairy tale city of Prague.
I used to live in Australia for some time and because of those beautiful seven years I call this country my second home.

Apart from blogging on Channel 10 I have another blog in English at http://barborazychova.com/blogs/en.
There is also a Czech version of this blog at http://www.barborazychova.com.

As a former TV news reporter and a presenter I like to film various videos for my blogs too.

I like to spend my time on Facebook, in the Second Life and also by playing Xbox 360.
Apart from that I love sport and anything related to the alternative medicine.

I'm Jukka Wallasvaara and I'm Enthusiast Evangelist for Finland based in town called Espoo.

I really love everything new and cool. My house's lights are controlled with x-10 technology so if you got anything cool ideas around x-10 and .NET…just let me know.

I just got my first Lego NXT robot and I will probably use child labor to build it up. I happen to have 3 children who impatiently waiting to get started. Maybe we will start this “Family project” on Christmas  holidays. I haven’t check this with my wife 
I think I will probably write something about our project in the near future.

Cheers!

Hi. I'm Laura. I was fortunate enough to start working for Jeff TWO years ago.  We had a crazy idea about a site for enthusiasts. Really?  How do we attack that? How do we make microsoft "cool"?, How do we gain the respect and interest of the audience who has gained our respect and interest?  The answer is simple. ......(c'mon I can't tell you everything, let's see what you've got.....)

Hi. I'm Mogonar. I'm a Draenei Shaman and I love spending time battling the forces of evil in both Azeroth and Outland.

When I'm not doing that, I play this great game where I'm Michal Sampson, developer. I work for Duncan on all the sites listed there in the footer. On the site, I do a crazy mix of SQL tuning, middle tier code, and client javascript. Behind the scenes, I wrote and maintain our video pipeline called MagicFolder. I've been on vacation leaving Duncan alone to get this thing working. I worry that it's too fast. I'm also that guy in the error picture.

When I'm not saving the world from Illidan and his dark schemes, I play the occasional 360 game (Assassin's Creed rules) as well as enjoying good sci-fi TV and cartoons of all kinds.

What's up people, I'm Galileu (or Galileo to my non-Brazilian friends) and I'm working out of the Microsoft São Paulo offices in Brazil as an EE as well. I was born in Florianópolis (photos) (location), then moved with the parents to the U.S at age six. I lived in Los Angeles for 4 years, then spent another 18 in Washington, D.C., followed by a year stint in Valencia, Spain.

Like most people who've introduced themselves here, I love tech and all the fun things we can do with it. I'm particularly fond of audio-video stuff and video games of course. Though I don't have too much time to play nowadays, I still hop on Live to meet up with old buddies now and then. GalileoBR is my tag for Xbox Live and Zune Social.

So you'll find me here at on10, but I'll be writing in Portuguese. If you're into Media Center type stuff, then I'm the chap to talk to.

When I'm not working I enjoy watching soccer/football, sliging some NFL and NBA, and visiting my family in Floripa (nickname for Florianópolis). If you've heard of Jimmy Buffet, you'll understand Floripa's lifestyle. I'm also a big Dave Matthews Band fan.

Hi. I'm Larry Larsen. I work for Jeff leading the Channel 10 team and helping out with the Channel 8 team. I'm from Florida, so as a kid I spent a lot of time at the Horizons exhibit at Epcot. I decided if I didn't want to be wearing a one-piece jumpsuit and eating sprouts out of a window garden, I better start working on a better future.

In my spare time I like to create safe simulators of dangerous hobbies. This year I've built a cockpit for Forza 2 (126" wrap around LCD display), a multi-screen Flight Sim X cockpit (setup for both helicopter and prop planes), and most recently I built a young lady a horse simulator using a Furreal pony and a Wii.

You can catch me on Xbox Live if you're up late enough (gamertag: LarryOn10). I've been playing Call of Duty 4, Burnout Paradise, and begging anyone who will listen to create Risk for Xbox Live Marketplace.

Hi Everybody...

I'm Brian Johnson and I'm an Enthusiast Evangelst for the eastern US. I'm lucky enough to know everyone who's posted to this thread so far. I used to live in Redmond and eat lunch with the people who produce these community sites and now I live in Orlando and I'm part of this great team.

I'm interested in multimedia production, photography, gaming, home entertainment systems, gadgets of all kinds, and I like motorcycles. (I really like motorcycles.)

Before coming to work for Developer Platform and Evangelism, I was a product manager for Microsoft Office for Mac, a strategist with MSDN, and I was a programming editor at Microsoft Press. I've written books on the Zune, Xbox 360, Visual Studio, and Microsoft Image Composer. (That last product's an oldy but a goody.)

You can find out more than you ever want to know about me by visiting by Windows Live Spaces blog. You can see pictures of my family here, and my posts to Channel 10 can be found here.  If you're interested in contacting me directly, my e-mail address is brianjo@microsoft.com and my Xbox Live Gamer Tag is Brize. I'm especially interested in hearing about computer, gaming, and photography user groups in the eastern US, so if you have a group you want me to know about, please do drop me a note.

Thanks!

Brian

Larry: "I built a young lady a horse simulator using a Furreal pony and a Wii." ... video? Specs? Construction Plans?

Yeah, I could see that as a cool accessory for Barbie Horse Adventures. (Which happens to be the sole reason we still have a classic Xbox running in the house. Smiley

Laura you already have my Respect and Interest..

anyway I am Michael; IT Technician, Gamer, Car Enthusiast.... ect..

Question for those that run this site, do you get a weekly or bi-weekly paycheck from MS for running this place

and whats it like working close with MS like that? I think I like MS too much, maybe I should be employed by them lol

Hi. I'm Steve Lindsay, I work as a SDET in the Tools and Infrastructure group of Microsoft Forefront Server Security. I'm located on the east coast also, but up in New York (Long Island) - However not originally, originally I'm from the North of England, so I have a strange and wacky accent apparently. I kinda feel like the odd one out here, I'm not really affiliated with Channel 10 but I ended up writing the new Media Center and Home Server Global HotSpot blog here on on10.net after Brian Johnson came to New York and filmed my Geeky House setup.

I'm about as much as a geek as you can get I think, I follow all the online social networks and news, My entire life revolves around emerging technologies and I try to incorporate them as much as possible. I'm a big believer that we're on the edge of the technological singularity and if we don't learn everything we can about everything new and cool we'll risk being left behind it's wave Wink

I'm inspired by Microsoft and it's vision of how to help lead our world into the next generations where technology is going to be a more integrated part of our life than our ancestors could have ever dreamed.

I do lots of other geeky and none geeky stuff too, such as I like building Mame arcade cabinets, and I've build a few new for myself and friends. I also like too shoot pool (I've been on top of the Forefront team's pool ladder for way too long now!), spend time with my family (especially my baby girl Lexia, who is 9 months old and sooooo cute). I game a reasonable amount and hold a proud 1000gp score on Halo 3 (and yes I do have my sword, and no I don't have a flaming helmet Sad <--- someone hook me up!). I also love photography, movies and music. (Canon Rebel XTi, MCE, Zune). I like to do daring things one could say, I live by the rule: 'I must try everything once'. Although I do make some obvious exceptions Big Smile

I think that's about it. later Big Smile

Kirby: "Question for those that run this site, do you get a weekly or bi-weekly paycheck from MS for running this place"

Hey Kirby, we work for Microsoft (full blown employees!) ... so yes, we do get paid to run the site, but for most of us it is just one part of our jobs. We like Microsoft a lot too, and if you are truly looking to be employed by them I'd strongly recommend it... it is a great place to work Smiley

My name's Bas, or Sebastian, and I'm a manager at a large healthcare company, PC gaming enthusiast (for the Horde!), and general techie geek. I followed two of On10's hosts here from a certain gaming channel that went all Spikey on us, and have been a regular visitor since day 1. I work primarily in IT, but have interests in healthcare and education as well. I've been on-line since 1991 (bitnet relay) and have followed computer developments closely ever since.

I look forward to what 10 will have to offer next year.
